Episode 117: Check Out Star Trek: Discovery, Dropping Some Eff Bombs

Well, if you're Lorca, you just kinda wince and cringe your way through some other guy's beating. Stay classy, Starfleet! This week, we nitpick "Choose Your Pain" and its very Trek-ian debate about whether or not it is okay to use a lifeform to power a tech that is slowly killing it. We also call out some great Easter Eggs (Rura Penthe, anyone?) and posit a huge possibly spoilery fan theory about our newest series regular, Lt. Tyler.

Also, we share some reader mailbag about Discovery and torpedo-funeral another Red Shirt. So put on your Starfleet pajamas, brush your teeth with the coolest toothbrush ever and listen to TR3 right now!

  1. Love this podcast, keep it up guys, you rock.

STD is a great addition to the franchise(IMO). I thought The f-bomb was super cute and perfectly timed by Tilly. As long as they don't start throwing them around casually, I'm ok with it.

I think the tardy-grade got into the Glenn via its special jumping ability, no damage/breach to the Glenn, was attracted to its spores. I think when they start using it to navigate their jumps it must have broken out causing the incident. But we may get more info on that later.

Was the Klingon captain really L'Rell? she seemed like a different Klingon to me.... How would L'Rell be commanding a ship like that already? TV magic perhaps....

  2. Thanks Rory! Yeah, good point on the Ripper -- he/she/it can basically jump anywhere I guess.

And yeah, the L'Rell thing is a real puzzle... It seems that it was her, but... huh.
